Indian markets ended off highs Thursday, as investors chose to book profits at higher levels even as stocks in Europe traded strong. Sensex added 16.29 points or 0.09% to close at 18,222.16. The BSE 30-share index saw a high of 18,355.84 versus a low of 18,215.28. Top gainers were JP Associates (4.05%), Sterlite (2.56%), HDFC (1.53%), Tata Power (1.41%), HDFC Bank (1.27%), ITC (1.20%), ICICI Bank (0.95%), Tata Steel (0.90%). Losers included Hero Honda (-3.73%), TCS (-1.66%), BHEL (-1.16%), Infosys (-1.06%), ONGC (-1%), Hindalco (-0.98%), Reliance Infra (-0.94%), SBI (-0.89%), NTPC (-0.84%), Bharti Airtel (-0.77%), RCom (-0.67%). |
The BSE midcap and smallcap indices were up 0.78% and 1.11% respectively.In the BSE midcap space, Apollo Tyres, Guj NRE Coke, Bayer Cropscien, IOB and MRF were up 5-12% and in small cap space Shristi Infra, Vindhya Telelin, Hercules Hoists, Venkys and Jagatjit Ind were up 12-20%Most active shares on BSE were Piramal Health, Jindal PolyFilm, Prakash Steelag, Midfield Ind and SKS Microfin.Most active shares on NSE were Reliance, Jindal PolyFilm, Tata Steel, SBI and Apollo Tyres.In the auto space, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki and Exide Industries were up 1-6%.ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and PNB were up 1-3% in the banking space.
The turnover also crossed Rs 1 lakh crore mark. In the cash segment, NSE cash contributed turonver of Rs 13313.42 crore while BSE cash contributed Rs 5243.53 crore. NSE F&O segment clocked turnover of Rs 84089.47 crore. |
